“A New Definition of Love”

1 John 4:7-21

1)    Love is defined by God (vs. 7, 8, 16)

“Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” – 1 John 4:8

2)    Love is revealed by the cross (vs. 9, 10)

“In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” – 1 John 4:10

3)    Love is motivated by God’s grace (vs. 11, 12, 19)

“We love because he first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19
