Introducing: A Good Confession

A New Devotional for 2024 – As we begin the new year, the Highview Session has purchased copies of a 52-week devotional for the congregation. A Good Confession: Daily Reflections on the Westminster Shorter Catechism gives individual readers, families, and congregations the opportunity to study and ponder the rich truths stated in fifty-two of the questions and answers of the catechism. Each week’s pages include a story relatable to readers and to which the truth is applicable. Daily scripture passages to study are provided along with thought-provoking quotes from a variety of sources to solidify the truths in readers’ minds. Readers also are given a small part of a scripture passage to memorize each day as part of their reflection and an encouragement to hide the Word in their hearts.

A Spiritual Growth Opportunity – We hope that this devotional will be a useful tool to help you in your spiritual growth throughout 2024. The readings and Scripture passages each week will provide you with a daily roadmap so that you can stay rooted in God’s word and grow in your knowledge of the rich theological truths that are part of our Reformed tradition as expressed in the Westminster Shorter Catechism. No matter what age or stage of life, this devotional will help you to spend time with the Lord on a daily basis.

Connecting Corporate Worship with Daily Life – Each Sunday during 2024 we will recite the weekly catechism question from A Good Confession as our statement of faith during worship. This will help us to connect what we are doing in worship to what we will be reading and studying during the week. Our hope is that this will also help us integrate these Biblical truths into our daily lives. Furthermore, since we will all be using the same devotional, we hope that this common experience will help draw our congregation together as we walk through the catechism and explore the rich truths of Scripture together.
