Ezekiel

Ch8      The spirit takes Ezekiel on an inspection tour of the Temple.  Abominations abound.

Ch10    The glory of the Lord departs the Temple

Ch18    We will not be held accountable for our father’s sin, nor rewarded for their rightness.

Ch22    A culture of violence.  Conspiracy of prophets and priests.  V30, No one to stand in gap.

Ch25-32           Laments for the various surrounding nations

Ch33    The watchman, v11, God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked.

Ch34    The shepherds fail Israel so (v11) God determines to search for his sheep.

Ch36    (vs25-26) God “will sprinkle clean water on you…and will give you a new heart and sp…”

Ch37    Valley of dry bones. V26, “I will make a covenant of peace with them.”

Ch40-48           Restoration of the Temple and priesthood.

Hosea

Ch1      An unusual choice for a wife and some awful names for Hosea’s first three children.

Ch2      Israel judged for religious adultery. V19, “I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy.  I will betroth you to me in faithfulness.”

Ch4      v1-v6, “There is no faithfulness or steadfast love, and no knowledge of God in the land”

Ch6      v1, “Come, let us return to the LORD; for he has torn us, that he may heal us.”

V3, “Let us know, let us press on to know the Lord.” V6, “I desire mercy, not sacrifice.”

Ch10    v12v14, “Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap the fruit of unfailing love; break up the unplowed ground, for it is time to seek the Lord.”  You haven’t so there is war.

Ch14    (v4) “I will heal their waywardness; I will love them freely, for my anger has turned”

Joel

Ch1      An invasion of locusts (armies?) threatens the land and drought spreads as judgment.

Ch2      Alarm!  The day of the Lord is coming.  V28, 29—“I will pour out my Spirit on all people”

V32, “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

Ch3      v14, “The day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
